YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Russia respects Armenia’s independent course, which has suspended its active participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said.
“We do not question the right of our Armenian partners to independently determine their path,” Ushakov stated, adding that de jure, Yerevan remains a full member of the CSTO and retains all relevant rights and obligations,'' Tass quoted Ushakov as saying.
“The doors are open for Armenia's return to work in the CSTO, and we hope that Armenian representatives will resume their cooperation within the framework of this organization sooner,” Ushakov said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in February 2024 that Armenia had practically frozen its participation in the CSTO, citing the organization's failure to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which could not go without consequences.
On November 28, events and meetings within the CSTO framework are scheduled to take place in Astana, in which Armenia will not participate.
