Poland seeks to start discussions on restoring EU Eastern Partnership format
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Poland wants to start discussions in the direction of restoring the EU Eastern Partnership format by making some changes to it, President of Poland Andrzej Duda said at a joint press conference with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan in Yerevan.
“Warsaw wants to restore the Eastern Partnership format by making some changes to it in the future. Poland wants to launch these discussions and wants to participate in the process,” President Duda said.
President Duda said Poland is ready to support Armenia’s EU integration.
“We are friends, we are Armenia’s friend. We have a very positive attitude for the Armenian people and the government of Armenia. Armenians have a major contribution in global culture and civilization. We will make every effort to integrate Armenia in the European family. We are ready to provide support if the Armenian side displays interest. As President of Poland, I am announcing that we are ready to support Armenia in case of any request,” President Duda said.
The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is a joint initiative involving the EU, its Member States and six Eastern European Partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
Launched in 2009, the EaP is a strategic and ambitious partnership based on common values and rules, mutual interests and commitments, as well as shared ownership and responsibility. It aims to strengthen and deepen the political and economic relations between the EU, its Member States and the partner countries, as well as supports sustainable reform processes in countries of Eastern Partnership.
The work in the EaP format has been suspended since the war in Ukraine began in 2022.
