Armenian FM Mirzoyan to skip CSTO joint meeting in Astana
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will not participate in the joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers, and the Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan told Armenpress.
On November 28, Astana will host the joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils.
The CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov and Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Andrei Serdyukov will take part in the events.
The sides will exchange views on the military and political situation in the regions of collective security, discuss the results of cooperation within the CSTO and prospects for further development of the collective security system.
Armenia has recently been boycotting events organized within the framework of the CSTO.
In February 2024, PM Pashinyan announced that Armenia had practically frozen its participation in the CSTO. Pashinyan stated that the CSTO had failed to fulfill its obligations towards Armenia, ''a situation that could not go without consequences".
