YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government has introduced legislation seeking to enable inmates of correctional facilities to file complaints anonymously.
The bill has been posted online at e-draft platform.
The legislation seeks to introduce a system of anonymous reporting for inmates and strengthen the mechanisms of investigating complaints about alleged torture or humiliation.
The move will enable to ensure full legal protection of incarcerated individuals, reduce violations and encourage the discovery of such violations.
The bill is in line with the government’s 2021-2026 program and the national human rights protection strategy aimed at promoting the justice sector reforms and ensuring human rights protection.
