In times of war, when every day brings new challenges and trials, help and support become crucial for the preservation and development of society. The Armeria Foundation, led by Armen Varuzhanovich Sargsyan, has remained an example of selfless and consistent assistance to both Ukrainian athletes and defenders on the frontline throughout the conflict.
One of the brightest examples of this support is the help provided to young Ukrainian judoka Bohdan Ostapenko. Thanks to the efforts of the foundation, this talented athlete was able to participate in the prestigious Cadet European Judo Cup for athletes under 18, held in Győr, Hungary, from November 8 to 10, 2024. Competing against 563 judokas from 27 countries, Bohdan secured a bronze medal in the under-66 kg weight category.
This achievement is not only a significant personal milestone for the athlete but also a source of pride for the whole of Ukraine, which continues to demonstrate its resilience and determination to achieve victories despite challenging circumstances. In parallel, Bohdan and other young judokas successfully competed in the Ukrainian Judo Championship for Cadets Under 17, held in Uzhhorod from November 21 to 23, 2024. Thanks to their hard work and the support of the Armeria Foundation, the athletes achieved the following results:
• 🥈 Daria Karpus (weight category up to 48 kg) – silver medal;
• 🥉 Volodymyr Kolpachov (weight category up to 50 kg) – bronze medal;
• 🥉 Bohdan Ostapenko (weight category up to 66 kg) – bronze medal;
• 🥉 Kira Bahmet (weight category over 70 kg) – bronze medal.
The achievements of these young athletes are not only a source of pride for their families and coaches but also proof that, even in times of war, Ukrainian sports continue to develop and achieve success.
The foundation’s activities, however, are not limited to supporting sports. Armeria actively helps Ukrainian soldiers by providing them with essential equipment, vehicles, and technical resources. In recent months, dozens of vehicles, drones, and other equipment have been delivered to assist Ukraine’s defenders in fulfilling their duties on the frontline every day.
Armen Sargsyan, as the head of the foundation, pays great attention to the individual needs of both athletes and soldiers, emphasizing Armeria’s personal approach to its mission. In these difficult times, the Armenian diaspora plays a vital role in strengthening ties between Ukraine and the Armenian people, demonstrating solidarity in the fight for freedom and peace.
These initiatives by the foundation strengthen the bond between civil society and the military, highlighting the unity of Ukrainians and Armenians in the face of shared challenges. In such challenging times, every contribution matters, and the Armeria Foundation’s work serves as a vivid example of how joint efforts can drive change.
Bohdan Ostapenko and his teammates are just a few examples of how the Armeria Foundation supports Ukrainian talents, helping them thrive despite adversity. Their medals are a symbol of resilience and hope for the future, as well as proof that supporting both sports and the military goes hand in hand to strengthen the nation.
Under the leadership of Armen Sargsyan, the Armeria Foundation continues its mission, inspiring others to follow its example and showing that even in times of war, it is possible to create conditions for victories—both on the sports arena and the battlefield.
